Description
The heavier sprung version of the split cam tube latch. Solid brass, in 45mm, 60mm and 70mm backsets.
When to choose hard sprung
The stronger spring returns the lever to horizontal with more force. Specify it where:
- The lever is long or heavy, and would otherwise droop over time
- The door is in high traffic, commercial or a busy family home
- A lever has already started dropping and you are replacing the latch to fix it
For a standard internal door with a light lever, the standard spring version gives a lighter, more pleasant action.
What split cam means
Each handle operates independently. Turn the inside lever and the latch retracts, turn the outside lever and it retracts, and neither drags the other round.
Choosing the backset
Backset is the distance from the door edge to the centre of the handle hole. 60mm is the most common in Australia.
On a replacement job, measure the existing latch first. A mismatch means the new handle will not line up with the hole already in the door.

Lead time
Havolka and Ookami Studio are held in stock in Palmyra at all times. Orders placed before cut off generally dispatch the same day.
Every other brand is brought in to order, generally one to two weeks depending on the supplier and the finish.

Delivery and lead times
We supply more than twenty brands, and most product is brought in to order from our suppliers. As a general guide, allow one to two weeks from order to delivery. Some ranges arrive sooner, and we will always confirm the expected timing on your order.
